9 Must-Read Books before they hit the Silver Screen

Hello Good morning everyone,
It's been long since I wrote any blog post apart from review or interview or Friday memes, so keeping in mind with my new-year resolution, I will manage time to write bookish or may-be sometimes non-bookish blog posts! So today I'm featuring 9 books that you need to read before watching it on a big screen. And here's my list:

1. Still Alice by Lisa Genova

Directors: Wash Westmoreland, Richard Glatzer
Release Date: 16th January, 2015

Read Lisa Genova's debut novel, which was first published in the year 2007, that centers around a middle-aged Harvard professor Dr. Alice who is  diagnosed with the early onset of Alzheimer's disease. You must read this novel because Still Alice is a first-person narration and unlike the movie, you will be astound to see how Alice eventually loses herself and all her hard work in her own words, which can sometimes be very painful and at times, it can be quite intimidating to see her go through all the trauma which only she can understand.

Read the review of Still Alice

Still Alice features Julianne Moore, Kristen Stewart, Alec Baldwin and Kate Bosworth.

Movie Verdict: It was so captivating to watch Julianne Moore embodying herself into the shoes of Dr. Alice- a patient of early-onset of Alzheimer's disease. Kristen Stewart simply surprised me with her mind-blowing performance as Alice's daughter. Do I need to say anything more about the film, since Moore has already bagged quite a lot of top-notch awards this year, including Golden Globe and Academy Award for her brilliant performance?

2. The Duff: Designated Ugly Fat Friend by Kody Keplinger

Director: Ari Sandel
Release Date: February 20, 2015

Read Kody Keplinger's debut novel to follow the journey of a 17year old cynical high-schooler and how her life goes haywire when she falls into a friends-with-benefits relationship with the man-slut of her school, apart from that the book deals with some mature teenage problems,  like parents divorce, teenage sex, bullying, slut-shaming etc.

Read the review of The Duff: Designated Ugly Fat Friend

The Duff features Robbie Amell, Mae Whitman and Bella Thorne.

Movie Verdict: Very boring, doesn't even sync with the plot of the novel, the only thing that was worth watching for was Mae Whitman's sweet and quirky performance that kept me going ROFL all throughout the movie.

3. Fifty Shades of Grey by El.James

Director: Sam Taylor-Johnson
Release Date: 14 February 2015

"Mr. Grey Will See You Now"
Yes, yes, I've been waiting so long for this. I remember just after reading E.L.James' new mommy porn, Fifty Shades of Grey, I started imagining how would it be if this was made into a movie- sizzling thoughts clouded my brain! and since the book opened up a whole new world of submissive and dominant relationship, my curiosity simply piqued it's pace. Wet Dreams alert!

Read a blog post about Fifty Shades of Grey

Fifty Shades of Grey features Jamie Dornan, Dakota Johnson and Rita Ora.

Movie Verdict: Loved the film, but I felt the director could have included more narrative scenes between Anna and Mr. Grey. Otherwise, it's more like a romantic film and all those hard-core submissive-stuff were excluded from the movie. The movie was a bit let-down for me.

4. Love Rosie by Cecelia Ahern

Director:
Christian Ditter
Release Date: Feb. 26, 15

Ahern's novel, Where Rainbows End revolves around the falling-in-love-with-your-best-friend relationship which is quite sweet and cheesy and funny!

Read the review of Love Rosie

Love Rosie features Sam Claflin, Lily Collins and Suki Waterhouse.

Movie Verdict: Please do not watch this pathetic movie, I mean it's so stupid and it is nowhere funny or heart-touching like Ahern's novel. Lily Collins is the only sweet and charming factor of this book who kept me laughing and crying with her emotions. She portrayed Rosie pretty strikingly through her performance.

5. Insurgent by Veronica Roth

Director: Robert Schwentke
Release Date: March 18, 2015

Veronica Roth's second book in the Divergent series is simply epic with more bone-chilling and adrenaline rushing action scenes that well I must say not easy to capture in big screen. Four and Tris along with Four's father and Tris' brother are hiding in the camps of Amity away from the boundary of their city. And the leader will do anything to stop them from attacking the peace of the city.

Insurgent features Shailene Woodley, Theo James, Ansel Elgort, Miles Teller and Kate Winslet.

Movie Verdict: Nothing like Divergent, the plot was changed at most of the places, some key elements were excluded. The director was only focused on featuring those actions in Tris' dream world.

6. Paper Towns by John Green
Director: Jake Schreier
Release Date: June 5, 2015

Green's another book turning into a film and this time it's Paper Towns which centers around the mystery of a missing high-schooler Margo Roth Spiegelman, and when she goes missing, Quentin Jacobsen- her neighbor along with a bunch of other kids take a road trip through America to find her.

Paper Towns features Natt Wolff, Cara Delevigne and Halston Sage.

7. Far from the Madding Crowd by Thomas Hardy
Director: Thomas Vinterberg
Release Date:  May 1, 2015

Hardy's one of the most famous classic novel is going to hit the screens, although, I know most people have read this novel long time ago, still it'd be better if you read it one more time to lose yourself in the beautiful love drama between a farm woman and her three suitors. Read it once again to relive yourself on Hardy's eloquent prose.

Far from the Madding Crowd features Carey Mulligan, Matthias Schoenaerts, Juno Temple, Micheal Sheen and Tom Sturridge.

9. Mockingjay (Part 2) by Suzanne Collins

Director: Francis Lawrence
Release Date:  November 20, 2015

Not anymore, this attack is going to be inevitable. In this part of the trilogy, Katniss and her friends who have suffered President Snow's games and tactics for maintaining peace among the districts. And also we need to look out for Peeta's change in his mind and heart towards Katniss after Snow's successful efforts in turning him into a weapon against Katniss.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 2 features Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutchersonm, Liam Hemsworth and Julianne Moore.

10. Dark Places by Gillian Flynn

Director: Gilles Paquet-Brenner
Release Date: 2015

The Day family was assasinated by the son of the family in the year 1985, among the 5 members, only one rescued the massacre. She is Libby Day and this is her story of how she comes to term with the loose ends that her brother was not the killer that night. It will be one hell of a film to be watched on big screen, Blood Alert! Lots of sacrifices and the killings were bit messy with lots of blood and guts.

Dark Places features Charlize Theron, Chloƫ Grace Moretz, Nicholas Hoult, Christina Hendricks and Tye Sheridan.

So book lovers don't miss out this great list of books which are turned and will be turned into some big-budget motion pictures. That's all for today.

Happy Reading!
