Review #4: Tip of a Bone by Christine Finlayson

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Tip of a Bone by Christine Finlayson is a fast-paced mystery novel, which is bound to compel you from its very first pages.

Synopsis:
The mystery is all about the death of an environmental activist, Harley, estranged brother to Maya, who comes to Oregon, to start a new life with his brother, leaving behind her broken marriage. But when she comes to Newport, she figures out that, Harley is blamed by everyone, calling him an arsonist, as he died mysteriously in a fire, which was arson. Deep down, Maya knew that his brother was innocent, although she didn't knew him very well. She wears the cap of a sleuth and starts a journey to find out the murderer and reason behind her brother's death; as a result, she got nearly killed and was being stalked by a murderer. Determined, she never diverts from her goal. Hence, with her strong determination, it takes her more into the deepest, darkest worlds of crime.

The whole story is set in Oregon coast, and the author has represented it well by making it fit in well with the plot. The story-telling was very smooth; too many details were never divulged at a time, meaning she knew how to keep her readers in the loop. Not to mention about those shocking twists and turns, and this makes the book more interesting. The characters were complex, dark, and fits right into the plot. Maya, the heroine/protagonist, is very strong, determined, not scared even for a single second, and the best part is that she sees right through everything.

Verdict: Here's a very promising mystery novel, so grab a copy of this book which will keep you on your edges till the very last pages.
